A foot path of uniform width runs all around the inside of a rectangular field of 50m long and 38m wide.If the area of the path is 492m^2 , find its width.

On January 11th, 2008 Structure says:

(50-2x)(38-2x)=1900-492=1408
4(25-x)(19-x)=4*352
(x-25)(x-19)=352
$ x^2-44x+123=0 $
$ (x-41)(x-3)=0 $
x=3 is admissible
